The Dipole

If you are a Technician class license holder, you should make a 10M dipole. You have operating privileges between 28.300Mhz and 28.500Mhz.

It's easier to get started than you realize. You only need a few items (we'll worry about chokes, UNUNs, and BALUNs later).

You need to cut the wire to length for the frequency you are looking to use. For the 10M band, your dipole should be the following length:

  • Frequency: 28.300 MHz
  • Total Antenna Length: 16 Feet, 6.5 Inches
  • or Two Element Lengths of: 8 Feet, 3.2 Inches

You can also enjoy FT8, FT4, JS8Call, and other digital modes on 10M.

West Mountain Radio has a simple and easy-to-use calculator.
