How to Get Your Amateur Radio License

There are three license classes in the U.S., each giving you increasing more spectrum privileges:

Ham radio is one of the few hobbies you can’t really practice until you’re licensed. That’s why I recommend: memorize the question pool, pass the test, then start learning on the air. Real understanding comes after you get your ticket and can actually transmit, experiment with radios, antennas, and modes.
